Lillian Theresa Marco was born March 5, 1912 to Francis and Johanna (Thompson) Tiemessen in Nordland Township. She graduated from Milroy High School and attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. In September of 1943, during WWII, she enlisted in the Navy. She was discharged as Chief Yeoman from the WAVES in August of 1946. She was very proud of her time spent in the military service.
On February 23, 1952, she married Fred Marco in California. She worked for many years at Culver City, CA in the license bureau. An accomplished archer, she won many metals in contests and events. They eventually moved to Auburn, NY, where she worked at Sears. When Fred died in 1978, Lillian moved to Marshall and in 1996 became a resident of the Minneota Manor.
Lillian died on Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the Minneota Manor Health Care Center in Minneota.
Lillian is survived by nieces and nephews; Donald (Donna) Maeyaert, Dorothy (Earl) Maertens, Rita Lavoy, Ruth (Larry) Erickson and Francis (Judy) Maeyaert. Preceeding her in death were her parents, husband, sisters; Agnes Tiemessen, Catherine Tiemessen, Bernice Maeyaert and Irene Domy and brother, John Tiemessen.
