Lillian “Jeanne” Stanton age 81 of Tracy, MN died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the Avera-Marshall Medical Center in Marshall, MN. Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie, MN. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the church, with a rosary at 5:00 PM and a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Currie, with a luncheon served immediately following the burial in the church social hall. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Currie, Minnesota for Jeanne Pommier Stanton on Thursday, January 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Father Andrew Vogel will celebrate the mass. Casket bearers are her grandsons: Cody Smetzer, Adam Strouf, Jacob Strouf, Aaron Stanton, Isaac Stanton, Eldon Vaselaar, and Davin Moloney. Honorary casket bearers are her granddaughters: Jordan Borski, Hannah Barden, Samantha Vaselaar, Rona Vaselaar, Cassie Schwingle, Shaela Moloney, Kyla Moloney, Jordanna Espanola, Dayne Patillo, and Annika Patillo. Lillian Jeanne was born on June 6, 1931, in Currie, the fifth of six children born to Albert Lea Pommier and Mary Lucille (Ruppert) Pommier. She was the first baby baptized in the new Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie. In 1949, she graduated from Immaculate Heart of Mary High School. On June 6, 1953, Jeanne was united in marriage to Keith LaVerne Stanton at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Palmer, Alaska. They moved to Tracy in 1957. The couple also lived in Huron, South Dakota and South Bend, Indiana. In 2011, Jeanne moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall, MN. A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she served as president of the Altar & Rosary Society, as guild chairman, was a lay Eucharistic Minister and taught CCD. She was the first woman elected to the Tracy City Council and served two terms. On Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the age of 81, Jeanne died at Avera Marshall Hospital, Marshall, Minnesota. Jeanne is survived by six daughters, Michelle from Rochester, Toni and John Smetzer from Colorado Springs, CO, Brenda and John Barnick from Minneapolis, Meredith and Eric Vaselaar from Adrian, Jamie and Daniel Moloney from Eagan, Heather and Paul Patillo from Cibolo, TX, and two sons, Conan and Monica from Minnetonka and Marshall and Dods, from Hoover, AL; 17 grandchildren--Jordan (Craig) Borski and Cody Smetzer, Adam, Hannah (Kevin) Barden and Jacob Strouf, Aaron (fiancé, Sasha Cherner), and Isaac Stanton, Eldon, Samantha (fiancé, Ethan Thompson), and Rona Vaselaar, Cassie (Gary) Schwingle, Davin, Shaela and Kyla Moloney, Jordanna Espanola, Dayne and Annika Patillo; two great-grandsons, Ethen and Dylan; two great-granddaughters, Leilianna and Adeline; four brothers and sisters, Leon and Dora Mae Pommier, Dolores Everett, Joyce Elliott and Wayne Pommier; many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband Keith on March 22, 2008, parents and one sister, Lorraine Carlson.
