Lois Pauline Pesch Gorecki Chlebecek

Mass of Christian Burial for Lois (Pesch, Gorecki) Chlebecek, 95, of Minneota, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. at Rehkamp Horvath Funeral Home in Minneota. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Eloi Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery in Taunton. Lois was born on February 1, 1924, to Wayne and Maria (Rafnson) Pesch. She will be best remembered for her bubbly personality and her adventurous nature as she was very interested in family history, loved taking pictures (and giving them to others!). She spent several winters in Texas with her daughters and their families. She was the driver and her sister, Mavis, was the navigator. Lois loved spending weekends at the lake, going for pontoon rides, bird watching, driving around the countryside, baking chocolate chip cookies, attending school activities for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending lots of time with her two sisters. There was always lots of laughter when they were together! (Not too many people ride on a jet ski at 76 and motorcycle at 92.) Lois received a “Volunteer of the Year Award” in 2011 for serving as a Foster Grandparent. Lois died on Monday, December 30, 2019, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. She is survived by her children Robert (and Kathy) Gorecki of Ghent, Dean (and Sue) Gorecki of Minneota, Don (and Terri) Gorecki of Ghent, Jean Diede of Athens, TX, Pat Cunningham of Marshall and Terry (and Karla) Chlebecek of Marshall; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and siblings Ruth Van Hyfte of Porter, Mavis Verschelde of Ivanhoe and Gene (and Jill) Pesch of LaPorte. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Clarence Gorecki and Ed Chlebecek, daughter Joan Klysen, son-in-law Joe Klysen, infant sister Dorothy and brothers Wally, Don, Lyle and Larry Pesch.
