Loris Tomasek

Loris (Buffington) Tomasek was born on May 16, 1928 in Holland, Minn., to Clarence and Gladys (Meier) Buffington. She graduated from Pipestone High School in 1946, and attended Johnson Beauty Academy in Mankato. In 1951, she and her twin sister Lois started the Twins Beauty Shop, located at the site of the current Marshall Theater. After retiring from the beauty shop, she worked in the Marshall Middle School and East Side Elementary cafeterias for years. She married Don Tomasek on Sept. 26, 1962, in Marshall. She was a devoted and loving mother of two sons, Greg and Mark. Loris was a very patient, gentle soul and a good listener. She especially enjoyed barbecues on the back patio, visiting with neighbors and her card groups of bridge and 500. She had a calming demeanor and understated sense of humor. She was a member of the Holy Redeemer Council of Catholic Women. She is survived by her husband, Don, of Marshall; and sons Greg of Burnsville, Minn., and Mark, of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin sister.
