Louis Felix Girard was born on March 4, 1915, in Stanley Township, to Narcisse and Sarah (Papineau) Girard. He grew up and farmed most of his life near Lynd. During World War II, Louis served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. After the war, he returned to the family farm. On September 1, 1952, he was united in marriage to Beatrice Bernardy. In 1979, the couple retired from farming and moved to Marshall. Louis enjoyed farming, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He died on Friday, April 9, 2010, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall.
He is survived by his sons James (and Becky) of Maple Grove, Jerry (and Lynn) of Cottonwood, Peter (and Sandy) of Canby and Steven (and Grace) of Onamia, 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one sister, Lumina Girard of Marshall. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beatrice, daughter Mary and 12 siblings.
