Louis John Veit was born on April 3, 1938 to George and Bertha (Brey) Veit in Tracy. He graduated from Milroy Public High School in 1956. After high school, Louis would meet his future wife, Agnes (Geurts) Veit, at Mikeâs Café and on July 19, 1962 the couple was united in marriage. In 1964, they started to farm his fatherâs farm. Louis was a hard worker always having his companion Lucky by his side. There are units to measure ones self-worth and Louisâs would be measured by the way he helped others and kept his faith. His greatest lesson was not about how much you could gain; instead, about what lifelong possessions you could give to family, friends, and strangers. His giving of himself to others will always be an example to his four children. His service of giving was a blessing to the Knights of Columbus and to the Lions Club. He drove school bus for many years; starting at the age of 18, which he considered to be a hobby. He was creative and always worked with what he had in his possession always aiming for higher efficiency and a quicker solution. After farming, Louis worked ten years as a security guard for Pinkerton and in 1999 became a substitute driver for Western Community Action. In 2006, Louis sold the farm to move to Cold Spring after his wife Agnes had become sick. He filled his void of farming by calling bingo at Assumption Court and becoming computer savvy.
On August 11, 2012, Louis was surrounded by family at the St. Cloud hospital when he would be reunited with his sweetheart in Heaven.
Louis will be missed by so many. His children, Paul (Deb) Veit of Spencer, IA, Lois (Marvin) Rothstein of Cold Spring, Donna (Troy) Bentler of Waite Park, Karen (Richard) Moen of Glenwood; 10 grandchildren, Bradley & Amanda Veit, Kyle, Andrea, Maria & Dean Rothstein, Dylan & Garret Christopherson, Ryan & Ellie Moen; and sister, Mary Schreiber of Taunton.
He is preceded in death by his wife Agnes, parents, and two infant children.
