Louis Michael Wyffels was born on October 28, 1928, to Albert and Christine (Jennen) Wyffels on a farm in Eidsvold Township of Lyon County, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Minneota High School. Louis was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1951- 1953 during the Korean War. On December 27, 1952, Louis was united in marriage to Patricia DeMeyer at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple raised seven children on the family farm North of Minneota. He and his family were long time members of the St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota where Louis served as a member of the church board, the liturgy committee, and as an usher and religious education teacher. In 2004, Louis and Patricia moved to Marshall where he loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Over the years, Louis used his skills by volunteering much of his time helping others, periodically playing in the “AnyTimers” band for local nursing homes, and volunteering at the Thrift Shop Auxiliary. He enjoyed farming, music, rolle bolle, hunting, fishing and animals. He was also a member of the Minneota American Legion Post 199 for 29 years. Louis died on Thursday, January 08, 2009, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Marshall, daughter Shirley Johnson-Wyffels from Rochester and her daughter Ranina, daughter Bonita (and Michael) DeSutter from Ghent, their children Christine, Mark, Adam, Karen, Laura, Heidi, Rachel and Maria, son David (and Vicky) Wyffels from Willmar, their daughters Jonikka, Amanda and Heather, son Daniel (and Julie) Wyffels from Marshall, their children Kayla, Nicole and Bradin, son Gary (and Elizabeth) Wyffels from Willmar, their daughters Ashley and Alyssa, son Richard (and Doreen) Wyffels from Alexandria, their daughters Sarah and Jenna, son William (and Katherine) Wyffels from Waconia, their daughters Olivia and Emma, three great-grandchildren Stella, Spencer and Mercedes, and one sister Colletta Louwagie. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Christine and brother Elmo.
