Louise Neoma Spitzer Dirckx

d. March 25, 2013

Louise Neoma (Spitzer) Dirckx was born May 27, 1928, in Elkton, SD to Fred and Ruth (Davis) Spitzer. She grew up in Elkton and moved with her family to Tracy where she graduated valedictorian of her class. On September 19, 1946, she was united in marriage to Edwin Dirckx at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Together, the couple raised their five daughters to value family and time spent together. Louise began her career in Marshall as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell. She would eventually retire as their office manager. Her grandchildren will remember Grandma for her competitive card playing; knowing they always better play their cards right. Louise would enjoy spending time with friends and family at the casino pressing her luck. She cherished Christmas time, as it was a time for her entire family to come together. They treasured the crafts she would make for them and her homemade Christmas cookies. They also loved creating memories together at the lake in the summer; whether it was fishing, swimming or playing yard games. Above all, Louise was most passionate about spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of Holy Redeemer Catholic church, where she was an active member of the Catholic Daughters. She also spent many hours volunteering for the hospital’s thrift shop. Louise died at the Praire Home Hopice House in Marshall March 25, 2013 surrounded by her family. Louise’s fun loving spirit will be missed by her daughter, Sharon (Jim) Babel of Glenwood; grandchildren, Nick and Sonny; daughter, Paulette (Pat) Dero of Lynd; grandchildren, Jed, Sarah, Aimee and Peter; daughter, Becky (John) Smith of McKinney, TX; grandchildren, Ryan and Kristin; daughter, Deb (Dave) Stene of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Dani, Delanie, Dalee; daughter, Cindy (Mike) Welu of Milroy; grandchildren, Cody and Jenny; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Shirlee Bailey of Marshall, Gerri Kerkvliet of Bryant, SD, Jean Dirckx of Marshall, Grace Spitzer of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Dirckx; son-in-law, Richard; brothers, Ray and Roy (Edith); and sister, Marian.
