Lucy Buysse was born on March 10, 1924 in Grandview Township to Andrew and Hubertina (Schoenmakers) Bulcke. On September 21, 1948, Lucy was united in marriage to Wilfred Buysse at St. Clotilde Catholic Church in Green Valley. Together, the couple homesteaded the farm on which they would raise their family of seven children. Lucy enjoyed the farm life; especially, raising chickens, tending the vegetable garden and filling her yard full of trees. She spent many hours playing cards, baking bread and visiting with family and friends. But most importantly, she enjoyed developing full and rich relationships with her 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Grandma Lucyâs fun-loving spirit was a joy to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; who remember Grandma playing many games with them, especially, Annie-Annie Over. She was a dedicated member of St. Edward Catholic Church and a member of the Joan of Arc Society. For a number of years, she worked as a housekeeper for REM. Lucy enjoyed living independently on the farm, until her death March 3, 2013 at the Sanford Canby Medical Center in Canby.
Lucy will be missed by her children, Virgil (Denise) Buysse of Taunton, Bernadette Buysse of Marshall, Vincent (Jean) Buysse of Hastings, Vernon (Pam) Buysse of Minneota, Bernadine Migis of Burkburnett, TX, Beverly (Kevin) Passe of Redwood Falls, Victor (Kristi) Buysse of Fairfax; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sister, Leona (Edmon) Doom of Marshall; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother; husband, Wilfred; son-in-law, Philip Migis; sister, Marie (Oscar) Doom; nieces, Teresa Schmitt and Marlene Abels.
In memory of Lucy, the family prefers memorials to be directed to either Advance Opportunities or the Association of Retarded Citizens Southwestern MN Chapter.
