Lucy died peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall with her daughters at her side.
Lucy Martha Carlson was born March 30, 1922 in Albany, Minnesota to Henry and Stella (Keppers) Ludwig. She grew up on the farm with four sisters and five brothers. On August 31, 1944 she was united in marriage to Fendell George Carlson at the Church of Seven Dolors in Albany, MN. Lucy enjoyed all aspects of homemaking, gardening, entertaining and cooking. She enjoyed good friends, and loved to vacation with Fendell and their children and grandchildren. Lunch on the boat with Grandma Lucy was a favorite of all her grandchildren. In 2002 Lucy and Fendell moved from their home of 50 years in Minnetonka, MN to Boulder Estates in Marshall.
Lucy is survived by her children, Carol (Dale) Streimikes of Roseburg, OR, Janet (Tom) Vandendriessche of Marshall, MN, and Laura Carlson of Portland, OR. She is survived also by her grandchildren Kristina, Katie, Jenny, Jeff, Patrick and Johanna; great-grandchildren Nicole and Emily; her sisters Theresa Evans of Albany, MN, Rita Lenzmeier of Paynesville, MN, Mary (Ron) Sadlowsky of Avon, MN and brother Daniel (Mary) Ludwig of Redwing, MN.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fendell, her parents, a sister Margaret and her brothers Vincent, Francis, George and John.
Memorials are preferred to the Father Shae Endowment at St. Therese School or the Holy Redeemer Foundation.
