Luella B. Rykhus age 89 of Tracy died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Belgrade Nursing Home in Belgrade, MN. Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Tracy United Methodist Church in Tracy. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Friday morning. Interment will be in the Tracy City Cemetery, with a luncheon served in the church social hall immediately following the burial. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements.
Luella Bertha Rykhus was born March 9, 1924 to Walter and Myrtle (Raymon) Hay on a farm near Flandreau, SD. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended country school.
On December 21, 1943 Luella married Gerald âPatâ Rykhus and they made their home on several farms until 1967 when they moved to a farm in Custer Township, near Garvin, MN. After retiring from farming they raised vegetables and sold them in Tracy for about six years. In 1997 they moved to Belgrade, MN to be closer to their son. In 2007 Luella became a resident of the Belgrade Nursing Home.
She enjoyed baking, quilting, helping her husband on the farm, vegetable gardening, taking time out for a malted milk shake in Tracy after selling her vegetables, shopping and spending time with her family.
On Sunday, April 21, 2013 Luella died, surrounded by her loving family, at the Belgrade Nursing Home at the age of 89.
Luella is survived by one son, Arnold (Kim) Rykhus of Alexander, ND; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley âDollyâ Hall of Virginia, MN; nieces, nephews and friends.
Her husband, Gerald âPatâ Rykhus, her parents, son, Ronald, and one brother, Donald Raymon preceded her in death.
