Lyle Bernard Sharratt

The funeral service for Lyle Sharratt, 78, of Balaton, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Balaton United Methodist Church in Balaton. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the Life Remembrance Center of Balaton. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery in Balaton. Lyle Bernard Sharratt was born on July 2, 1938, in rural Tyler, to Arnold and Anna (Van Breasen) Sharratt. Lyle attended Tyler Public School and graduated in 1956. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in June, 1956. Lyle was stationed in California, Texas, Saudi Arabia, Washington D.C., and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1960. Lyle worked in Minneapolis until moving to Balaton to work for B & L Oil Company in 1963. He was married to Verne Mumby in 1970. Verne died in 2000. Lyle then worked for the Colonial Manor for 20 years. In 2003, he married Linda (Scott) at the Balaton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed old cars, car racing and he collected match box cars. Lyle died on Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Veteran’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Balaton, Tuesday, April 04, 2017 11:00 AM
