Marcella Theresa Schmidt

Funeral service for Marcella Theresa Schmidt, 85, of Willmar, MN and formerly of Tracy, will take place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Tracy Lutheran Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Public visitation will take place one hour prior at the Tracy Lutheran Church. Upon conclusion of the funeral service a luncheon will be provided at Tracy Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at the Tracy City Cemetery at a later date.

Marcella Theresa Truwe was born on February 24, 1940 to Edwin and Bernadine Truwe in Mountain Lake, MN. She graduated from Tracy High School. Marcella had a daughter Theresa.

Marcella met Roland Schmidt. The couple was married in December of 1962. Roland had a son and a daughter. Marcella and Roland added to their blended family. Marcella enjoyed the role as a farm wife and could often be found alongside her husband on the farm.

Marcella was an avid gardener. She enjoyed growing and canning vegetables. Marcella was also known to have impressive flower gardens. She liked to play cards, word searches and Rummikub. Marcella had fond memories of fishing at Larry’s cabin. She also loved to knit, crochet, and quilt. Marcella was a long time member of the Tracy Lutheran Quilting Group. She enjoyed baking sugar cookies and hosting family dinners. Marcella often sent her guest home with large amounts of her sugar cookies.

Marcella went to Senior Prairie Cottage in Willmar, MN in July. She enjoyed bingo, music and getting her nails done.

Marcella passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Prairie Senior Cottage in Willmar, MN.

She is survived by children Theresa and family, Allen and family, Rolana and family; brother Robert Truwe; her dog Lucky; many other family, friends and neighbors from the farm.

Marcella is preceded in death by her parents Bernadine and Edwin; Husband Roland; children Lynda and Larry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Tracy Lutheran Quilting Group.
