Margaret Ruth Hassing Doyscher

d. December 21, 2016

Margaret Ruth (Hassing) Doyscher was born on January 7, 1930, in Middletown Township, rural Jackson, MN, to George and Mary (Petrich) Hassing. She grew up in Jackson, attended eight years of country school, then the Jackson Public High School where she graduated in 1947. Margaret then attended Business School in Mankato. In 1951, she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Doyscher at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Jackson. To this union were born sons Robert, Thomas, Mark, Daniel and Patrick and daughters Ann and Mary. In 1962, the family moved to Marshall where Dick worked as a Cattle Buyer. Margaret worked as a Teacher’s Aide at the Marshall Middle School and later obtained her Real Estate License. She also worked for S.O.S. as a typist for a time. In 1987, Margaret and Dick moved back to Jackson where they purchased the Dairy Queen. Margaret worked full time as owner/operator of the store for seven years. Richard died in 1993. In 2015, Margaret moved to Hill Street Place in Marshall. She enjoyed being at the lake, playing Rummikub and Cribbage with friends and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, crafting, baking, doing the daily crossword puzzle in the Star Tribune, talking politics and keeping up with her great grandchildren on Facebook. Margaret will be remembered for keeping a very welcoming home. She attended countless baseball, basketball and football games both played and coached by her children. When she wasn’t cheering from the bleachers, she was typically home baking chocolate chip cookies or other tremendous treats that were enjoyed by her family and many friends. In her later years, she enjoyed wintering in Alamo, TX, with her friend Ken McNab who also accompanied her on many RV trips and other travels throughout the United States. Margaret died on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. She is survived by her children Robert (and Lia) of Lake City, Thomas (and Cindy) of Waconia, Mark (and Becky) of Woodbury, Daniel (and Rhonda) of Sioux Falls, SD, Patrick (and Charon) of Round Lake, Ann Doyscher-Domres (and Wade) of Sartell and Mary (and Justin Nissen) of New Auburn, 15 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard and siblings George Hassing and Marie Hassing Sullivan. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Jackson Cemetery Association: 300 Highway 71 South in Jackson, MN 56143.
