Margaret Geneivieve Pilotte Friend

Margaret was born May 11, 1916 to Joseph and Laura (Paradis) Pilotte in Brooten, MN. She married Jack Wyffels in November of 1938. To this union, son Joseph was born. Jack died in March of 1945. She later married Donald Friend on June 9, 1946 in Walnut Grove, MN at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. The couple worked hard together for 25 years managing Friends Sportsman’s Bar and Grill in Walnut Grove. They were blessed with three children. Margaret was dedicated to her faith and spirituality. She blessed Holy Redeemer with many hours of service with the CCW and the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed going out for coffee with her lady’s group, playing cards and visiting with friends. The people she enjoyed spending the most time with were her grandchildren; who will remember Grandma for teaching them to speak and count in French. She loved being with them and watching them grow up. Margaret had a passion for flowers and loved being outdoors. Margaret died January 22, 2013 at Saunder’s Medical Center LTC in Wahoo, NE; where she lived 5 months to be near her daughter, Barb. Margaret will be missed by her children, Joseph (Donna) Friend of Billings, MT, Marilyn (Jerry) Morhain of Sedalia, MO, and Barb (Keith) Rupp of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Cyndi (Doug) Kay of Boise, ID, Michelle Friend of Angle Inlet, MN, Charlie (Joy) Friend of Billing, MT, Mike (Angela) Anderson of Hesston, KS, Dean (Stephanie) Anderson of Littleton, CO, Angela (John) Carns of Henderson, NV, Jennifer (Greg) Nitzel of Mattawan, MI, Joseph Rupp of Lincoln, NE; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Wyffels; second husband, Donald Friend; parents, Joseph and Laura Pilotte; sister, Vivienne Pagel; grandson, Brian Friend.
