Marguerite Ida Jensen was born to Edward and Alma (Lockard) Carey on August 8, 1916 in Vienna, South Dakota. She attended school and graduated from Good Thunder High School in 1934. On August 19, 1938 she was united in marriage to Harlan Jensen in Hayti, South Dakota. Margueriteâs first job was teaching in a one room school in Hamlin Co, South Dakota in 1938. She received her bachelorâs degree from General Beadel Teacherâs College in 1954 and her masterâs degree from SDSU in 1967. She was a charter member of the faculty at SSU. She later was an elementary principal and music instructor in Lynd and Russell. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidering and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Marguerite is survived by her son Carey (Joe) and his wife Terri of Marshall, daughter Elizabeth and her husband Marv Kleven of Walnut Grove; five grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harlan; and 1 brother.
