Marguerite Mary Nuytten was born on January 28, 1930, in Grandview Township to Constant and Leona (Dobbelaere) Nuytten. She attended rural school, St. Eloi Grade School and later graduated from Marshall High School in 1946. In 1960, Marguerite graduated from St. Catherineâs College in St. Paul with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. She worked as a County Home Agent for Nicollet County in St. Peter before returning to St. Catherineâs College where she received her teaching certificate. Marguerite then taught in various schools in St. Paul and LaPorte, as well as Holy Redeemer School in Marshall and later in Milroy. After additional continuing education, Marguerite taught remedial reading. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time at her home. She was fond of her cat companions and also enjoyed the wild turkeys in the area and crafts including knitting, quilting and reading. Through the Guidepost Organizations, Marguerite provided sweaters and other materials to those in need. She sponsored two children through Catholic Relief Organizations. She was an honorary member of St. Anneâs CCW and made the baptismal garments for St. Eloi Parish for many years.
Marguerite died on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Avera Morningside Heights Care Center. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Mary Verkinderen, Annie Welvaert, Gerard, Maurice, Louise, and Arthur Nuytten, Julia Van Overbeke, Harry and Joe Nuytten and Martha Naber.
