Marian Margaret (Stienessen) Hoffmann was born on January 17, 1936, in Eidsvold Township, Lyon County, MN, the daughter of John and Mary (DeCock) Stienessen. She was baptized at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton. She attended rural school, St. Edward Catholic School, and Minneota High School, graduating in 1953.
On October 29, 1957, Marian married Germain Hoffmann at St. Edward Catholic Church. This was a double wedding with her twin sister Marie and her husband Francis Antony. In her married years, Marian worked at: Dr. J.M. Schulte, Bromen & Anderson Law Office, Schott Corporation, and Minneota Manor.
Marian’s passion was people. Many have been touched by her kindness, generosity, love, or just a smile. She enjoyed sharing stories and could entertain for hours. She loved to cook and at any given time would have enough food to feed an army! She loved to bake and share the goodness with all. She crocheted afghans and countless individuals hold these dear to their hearts. Playing cards was a joy and one would never know if she was winning or losing as she just enjoyed the game. She took pride in her lawn and garden and kept them meticulous. She loved to can and always had shelves filled with beautifully preserved fruits and vegetables. She cherished friends and was a constant initiator of get-togethers, leading to many laughs and fond memories. She adored her neighbors and sitting on her deck to welcome all who happened by. Most of all, Marian loved her family. As a parent and grandmother, she was a teacher of morals and an example of how to live life. She was a support and a shoulder. She was the “go to” in all times. She was arms wide open and a heart full of love. She was our rock and is missed immensely.
