Marie Amundson

Marie was born to Ole and Julia Ramberg on July 11, 1920 on their farm in Nordland Township, south of Minneota, Minnesota. She lived with her parents, sister Alice, and brother Olai. She was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church. Upon completion of her education, Marie was united in marriage to Edwin Amundson on September 28, 1940, also at Hope Lutheran. Following their marriage, they moved to a farm by Ivanhoe, Minnesota, where they farmed with Edwin's father, Ole Amundson, and many of his brothers. There they were blessed with a daughter, Mavis Julieann on May 10th, 1942. A Few years later they moved to a farm by Minneota where they farmed for several years, and later moved into town. Another blessing, their son Kenneth Edwin, was born December 6, 1956. Marie worked at the Minneota Public School in the cafeteria until her health failed her and in 1983, the couple moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, where they lived for twenty-one years, until Edwin’s death in 2004. Marie then moveD back to Minneota and lived there until her death March 31, 2011. Marie just celebrated her 90th birthday on July 11, 2010 with her family and friends in attendance. Marie had many passions; most of all was her love for her family, her friends, her church and her love for animals. She also had a lot of hobbies which included knitting, gardening, baking and cooking. She made every member of her family afghans, quilts and many other beautiful items. She had an exceptional talent with flowers and had many beautiful gardens with flowers blooming everywhere. She also had a passion for music and mostly loved the old gospel hymns. She is missed greatly and lovingly remembered by her daughter Mavis and husband David Sandberg of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, son Kenneth and wife Lori Amundson of Sacramento, California, sister Alice Leese of Minneota, Minnesota, and many nieces, nephewsand friends. Marie has six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother.
