Marie (Bulcke) Doom was born on July 15, 1920, in Ghent, to Andrew and Hubertine (Schoenmakcers) Bulcke. She grew up in Rural Ghent. On January 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Oscar Doom. The couple farmed East of Marshall for a few years before moving to rural Cottonwood where they farmed until 1974. After retirement, they lived in Tracy for a few years before moving to Marshall. Marie has lived at the Minneota Manor in Minneota since 2001. Marie was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. For many years, she served on the funeral committee and was the recipient of the Bishopâs Medal of Honor. Marie also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and crocheting.
Marie died on Saturday, July 18, 2009, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.
She is survived by her children, Josephine (and Clair) Tieskotter of Harmony, MN, Louis (and Karen) Doom of Renner, SD, Vincent (and Annette) Doom of Visalia, CA, Michael Doom of Marshall, Annette (and Frank) Hassenstab of Wabasso, 15 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren, sisters Leona (and Ed) Doom of Cottonwood, Lucy Buysse of Minneota and son-in-law Gerald Abels of Minneota. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar and daughter Teresa and her husband Walter Schmitt and daughter Marlene.
