Marilyn Louise Esping

Funeral service for Marilyn Louise Esping, 88, of Minneota, will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Hope Lutheran Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. Public visitation will take place at church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at Hope Lutheran Cemetery following the funeral service. Upon conclusion of the graveside service a luncheon will be held at church. 

Marilyn Winters was born to Louis and Clara (Engel) Winters March 12, 1936. She attended rural school district 81 through grade six. She then transferred to Canby Schools where she graduated High School. On September 24, 1955 she and Alden Esping were married in Canby. They made their home on a farm outside of Porter where they lived until Alden’s death in August of 1998. Marilyn continued to live on the farm until 2004 when she then moved to Minneota. 

Marilyn worked as a nurse’s aid at Senior Haven in Canby for nine years until she began working as a home healthcare aid in 1981. 

Marilyn had many hobbies throughout her lifetime. She loved to fish and go camping. Later in life Marilyn and her companion Bob enjoyed to snowbird in the south in their RV. She had a passion for arts and crafts. She had fun playing the slots at the local casinos. 

Marilyn died on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Hendricks Hospital. 

She is survived by her children; Richard Esping, Mark Esping, Cindy Sershen; grandchildren Nick (Nicky) Esping, Melissa (Mark) Borgerson, Kayla Kimpe, Mark Jr (Lacey) Esping, Jennifer Esping, Kelsey Esping; siblings Marlin Winters, Janice Lund; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Alden; parents Louis and Clara; brother James Winters; son-in-law Randy Sershen.
