Marjorie Mae (Brown) Lenz, 95, of Marshall, died peacefully on February 6, 2021.
There will be a celebration of Marjâs life and faith on Thursday, February 11, at 11:00 a.m. (Central time) at Hope Church of Richfield, MN. In person attendance is for family members only. All others are warmly invited to participate through the livestream at live.hope-pc.org.
Marj was born on January 23, 1926, as the youngest child to Gordon and Ada Brown in Elrod, SD. She graduated as valedictorian from Henry (SD) High School in 1944.
She married Robert E. (Bob) Lenz on October 1, 1946. After living in Grand Island, NE; Pipestone, MN; and Minneapolis, Marj and Bob settled in Marshall in 1955 where they raised their four children.
Marj worked for many years as a receptionist and financial secretary at Christ United Presbyterian Church, where she was also a member.
Marj was a born caregiver and a champion of the underdog. She loved to provide abundant feasts of her excellent cooking and baking. She enjoyed games of all kinds, especially card games. She was a faithful writer of letters, always quick to offer praise and encouragement. Her greatest joy was her family.
A lifelong follower of Jesus Christ, Marj modeled a living faith for her family and friends. She faced death as she approached life, with trust and hope in her Lord.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bob; her parents; brother Earl Brown and sister Maxine Bonsey; and grandson Jared Timp. She is survived by her son, Mark Lenz; daughter, Mary Sue (John) Leake; daughter, Marcia (Robert) Giese; son, David (Cynthia) Lenz; many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews in whom she took great delight; and lifelong friends and neighbors.
Memorials are preferred to Hope Church (7132 Portland Ave. S.; Richfield, MN 55423).
