Marjorie Priscilla Alleckson was born September 1, 1932 in Lincoln County, Minnesota to Peter Joseph Alleckson and Marie Sophie Haugen. She was baptized on September 1932 in Lincoln Countyâs Icelandic Lutheran Church by Pastor G. Guttormson. She was confirmed in St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Canby by Dr. Maynard Kraabel. She graduated from Canby High School in 1950.
Marjorie, was known as "Cis" to her family and close friends, as she was the only girl growing up with 6 brothers and often she was the only girl at the small rural country schools.
She received her Elementary Education Degree from the University of Minnesota at the Teachers College in Glencoe, MN. She had a love for teaching and taught in one room country schools upon graduation. She was the head teacher, in District 91, Lyon County for 3 years, and in Lincoln County for one year. She then went on to teach English and Phy-Ed at Minneota Public School. She continued her passion for education, taking classes from U of M, St Cloud State and Mankato State.
She also worked for eight years as the executive secretary and bookkeeper at F & M Supply Company (Minneota Elevator).
On July 19th, 1952 she married Wallace R. Pesch, the love of her life, at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneota. They raised 5 children in Minneota, Robyn, Rhonda, Kim, Kurt and Jonathon(J.D.).
Marjorie was passionate about anything she put her mind to. She taught herself and two daughters, Robyn and Rhonda, dance, ballet, tap, baton, and gymnastics by attending the "The McPhail School of Dance" in Minneapolis, MN for many years. In 1968 she started her own business, "Robyn & Rhonda's Studio of Dance" at their new house in Minneota. Her venture was very popular with local children and families. She traveled with her students to many states for events, and performances. "Margie's Dancers" as they became known, performed at nursing homes, county fairs, high schools, the Minnesota State Fair and on television. She taught hundreds of girls and boys at her studio until 2003. She loved children with a passion and it was obvious to her students as they loved Margie and going to dance class.
Her passion for flowers was evident in her beautiful backyard rose garden. She designed and planned her own garden after visiting many nationally known arboretums across the country. Her garden was beautifully planned with architectural planters, sidewalks, benches and a pond among, hundreds of rose plants of all colors, and many types of flowers blooming throughout the seasons.
Mom was also a passionate photographer. She won many photography awards and contests over the years with photos of her children, grandchildren. dancers, flower garden and her extravagant doll collection. She diligently and beautifully documented her family's life with thousands of photographs and albums. We will all think of Marjorie Pesch when we see bright flowers, beautiful pictures, victorian dolls and little dancers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace R. Pesch, her infant sister Donna Marie Alleckson, brothers: Marc Alleckson, John Alleckson, Harvey Alleckson, and her parents Peter and Marie Alleckson.
Survived by: Brothers/ Sister-in Laws: Jim and Velma Alleckson, Bob and LaVonne Alleckson, Dave and Dee Alleckson, Lois Chlebecek, Ruth VanHyfte, Gloria Pesch, Mavis Verschelde, Gene and Jill Pesch, Lorraine Alleckson.
She is survived by her children: Robyn (Terry) Dwyer of Stillwater, MN, Rhonda (Mike) Burke of Roseville, MN, Kim (Ruth) Pesch of Buffalo, MN, Kurt (Kathy) Pesch of Perham, MN, J.D. (Paula) Pesch or Minneota, MN.
