Marjorie Pesch

d. May 11, 2011

Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie “Margie” Pesch, 77, of Taunton, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. Interment will follow the service at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery in Taunton. Marjorie Mae (Kontz) Pesch was born on February 23, 1934, in Elkton, SD, to Arnold and Loretta (Galles) Kontz. She graduated from Canby High School in 1952. On January 12, 1953, she was united in marriage to Lyle Pesch in Gary, SD. Shortly after their marriage, the couple spent time in England and Virginia while Lyle served in the U.S. Army. After Lyle’s discharge, the couple lived near Elbow Lake, MN, until making their final home in Taunton in 1959. Margie always had a smile on her face and loved to visit. Her favorite saying was “keep your chin up!” She lived by that saying as she suffered a stroke at the age of 45 and had many medical challenges after that. Margie always seemed to find strength where others would have given up. Her strong faith carried her far in life. Visitors never left Margie’s home hungry as she always had plenty of goodies to serve. Her specialty was salted nut roll bars. While visiting, she would share her many pictures of family and friends. Margie’s pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She died on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the Sanford Canby Community Hospital in Canby. Margie will be sadly missed by Lyle, her husband of 58 years. She will also be missed by her children Pam (and Dan) Coquyt of Fairmont, Deb (and Leo) Bottelberghe of Minneota, Jim (and Chris) Pesch of Taunton, Ken Pesch (and Brenda Alley) of Porter, Rick (and Linda) Pesch of Taunton, Laurie (and Gary) VanDerostyne of Porter, 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren (and two on the way!) siblings: Dale Kontz, Donna Verschelde, Claretta (and John) Keimig and Betty (and Greg) Dephilippis. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Laurel (and Mary), Robert (and Elaine) and Frank (and Leola) Kontz, infant brother Wayne and brother-in-law Donald Verschelde.
