Marjorie C. (Pape) Verdeck was born on March 16, 1920, in Underwood Township to John and Clara (Wittry) Pape. She graduated from Milroy High School in 1938. On January 30, 1940, Marjorie was united in marriage to Francis “Pat” Verdeck at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy. The couple farmed and raised their girls in Clifton Township. After Pat’s death, Marjorie moved to Marshall. She worked for the A and W cafe in the mall after she moved to town. Marjorie was an avid Twins fan. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo at Hill Street, baking pies, gardening and helping on the farm. She was active in the Council of Catholic Women with her cooking in the kitchen for events in Carlin Hall. Marjorie died on Tuesday, July 01, 2014, at the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Larson of Apple Valley, granddaughter Michelle (John) Rock of Shakopee, three great grandchildren; Tyler, Casey and Caitlin, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis “Pat”, daughter Beverly, sisters; Betty Hoflock and Annabel Turbes and brother Bud Pape and the Verdeck in-laws.
