Marion C. Gislason was born on July 11, 1928, in Winter Haven, Florida. She was the daughter of Roger Williams and Harietta Clapp. Marney graduated from High School in Winter Haven and continued her schooling at the Washington School for Secretaries in Washington, D.C... She worked at Cypress Gardens as a âSouthern Bellâ and was a member of the ski team. Marney met Virgil âGissyâ Gislason at the Tip Toppers Club in San Francisco. They married on May 7, 1960, at St. Paulâs Lutheran Church in Minneota. Marney owned a clothing store in Minneota and was the bookkeeper at Gislason Hardware. She loved gardening, cross-stitching, golfing and coffee breaks at the Hardware Store. She was a loving mother and a true friend with an easy smile. She will be thought of often.
Marney died on Sunday, July 8, 2007, at the Minneota Manor Nursing Home with her family at her side. She is survived by her daughter, Barb Rye and Dave Fahey, son Brian and Nicole Gislason, grandchildren Michael and Jennifer Rye, Patricia and Kasey, sister Jeanne C. Knight and brother Roger W. Clapp Jr. of Florida, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents Roger and Harietta, sister Jan and brother Spafford.
