Mary Ann (Hamerlinck) Stienessen was born August 14, 1928, in Minneota, to Henry and Sadie (Koltze) Hamerlinck. She grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School. On September 20, 1949, she was united in marriage to Laurence Stienessen. The couple lived in Ivanhoe, Minneota and California before moving to what became the family farm near St. Leo in 1965. They moved to Minneota in 1991. Mary Ann enjoyed crochet and embroidery. She loved horses, music and playing the accordion. She and Laurence wintered at Apache Junction, AZ, where Mary Ann enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her granddaughters. After Mary Ann was diagnosed with Alzheimerâs Disease, she later moved to the Minneota Manor in 2010. She died Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Manor.
She is survived by her husband, Laurence Stienessen of Minneota, children Audrey (and Guy) Chitwood of Buford, GA, Diane (and Robert) Drietz of St. Leo, Gary Stienessen (and Linda Nordmeyer) of St. Leo, grandchildren Tamara Davis (and Mike Gross), Trish (and Shane) Bordewyk, great-grandchildren Jacob and Hannah Davis, Zahndra and Sage Bordewyk and one on the way. Also survived by her siblings; Bobby (and Marie) Hamerlinck, Margaret Kimpe, Lucille DeSutter, Agnes (and John) Coudron, Bernice (and Myron) Kloos, Kathleen Boogaard, Barbara (and Florian) Drietz, nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers-in-law.
