Mary Ann (Petracek) DeSutter was born on November 17, 1931, in Redwood Falls, MN, to Frank and Magdalena (Kramer) Petracek. She grew up on a farm near Seaforth and graduated from Redwood Falls High School. Mary Ann attended St. Catherine’s University before obtaining her Teacher’s Degree from Mankato State University. She taught for a few years before uniting in marriage to Jerome DeSutter. The couple lived in Marshall for a short time before moving to Windom where they raised their family. In 1978, they moved to Minneota where Mary Ann taught at St. Edward Catholic School. She continued volunteering at the school after her retirement. In addition to teaching, Mary Ann enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and growing roses. She was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, dedicated teacher, constant friend and amazing baker. Mary Ann died suddenly on Monday, February 28, 2011, at her residence in Minneota. She is survived by her children Susan (and William) Davis of Falcon Heights, David (and Catherine) of Inver Grove Heights and Michael (and Lona) of Independence, grandchildren Patrick Davis, Melissa (and Chris) Rosky, Amy, Lindsey, John, Olivia and Ben DeSutter, great-granddaughter Aleyna Rosky, brothers Francis (and Kathleen) Petracek and Donald (and Doris) Petracek and sister-in-law Sue Petracek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome, parents Magdalena and Frank Petracek, sister Patty and brothers Clarence and Edmond and grandson Christopher Davis. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Mary Ann DeSutter fund at St. Edward Catholic School
