Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Hanson, 86, of Rochester, formerly of Marshall, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, 10:00 a.m. â 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow the service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Mary Louise (Landolt) was born on November 18, 1934, in Rolfe, IA, to Eugene and Blanche (Willard) Landolt. She grew up in Gilmore City, IA, and graduated from Gilmore City High School. On January 23, 1954, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Hanson at St. Johnâs Catholic Church in Gilmore City, IA. The family lived in several communities including Clarion, IA, Dakota City, IA, and Fairmont, MN, before moving to Marshall in 1972. In addition to raising her family, Mary worked for Super Valu and later County Fair for many years. She enjoyed camping and gardening. Mary had a green thumb and was an excellent cook and will be fondly remembered for her baking and especially her kringle. Mary was a talented pianist and organist. She and Ken enjoyed camping and family vacations. She was a devout catholic and an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Mary was especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary died on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester, MN. She is survived by her children Steve (and Lori) Hanson of Spring Green, WI, Mike (and Jill) Hanson of St. Peter, MN, Kevin (and Linda) Hanson of Madison, WI, Kim (and Brent) Fenske of Kasson, MN, Joan (and Duane) Lage of West Fargo, ND, Jim (and Deb) Hanson of Richland, WA, Larry (and Sandy) Hanson of Brandon, SD, 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, brother Elden (and JoAnn) Landolt and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, sister Kathy and brother Jim.
