Maurice Richard âDickâ Ueland was born on December 21, 1940, in Hanley Falls, to Richard and Marie (Olson) Ueland. He grew up in Cottonwood and graduated from Cottonwood High School. Dick enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years. On August 22, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sharon Behnke at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple lived in a variety of communities, settling in Minneapolis until recently moving to St. Michael, MN. Dick worked for Robinson Rubber Products, Inc., for over 20 years. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dick also enjoyed collecting model cars and was an avid Vikings fan. He died on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale due to complications from pneumonia.
Dick is survived by his wife Sharon of St. Michael, children Debbie (and Scott) Berry of Elk River, MN, Julie (and Todd) Rasmussen of Grand Rapids, MN, Todd Ueland of Cold Spring, MN, and Stacie Miller of Champlin, MN, four grandchildren, Rick Behnke, brother Ronald (and J.) Ueland of Burbank, Ca, sister Bonnie (and Gary) Laleman of Ghent, sister Beth (and Kevin) Kack of Russell, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.
