Maxine Ann (Welle) Mikel was born on November 13, 1927, in St. Cloud, MN, to Louis and Magdelena (Kemp) Welle. She grew up and graduated from High School in St. Cloud. On April 29, 1948, she was married to Lloyd Mikel. The couple lived in Redwood Falls for a time before moving to Marshall in 1963 where they owned and operated Lloydâs Fairway. Maxine was devout in her faith. She was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and volunteered at the Hospital Thrift Shop. She and Lloyd enjoyed traveling, wintering in Naples and spending time at their lake home. She also enjoyed playing bridge and golf. Maxine was most passionate about her family.
Maxine died on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Heritage Lane in Marshall. She is survived by her children Doug (and Sally) Mikel of Denver, CO, Diane Monson of Hastings, Cindy (and Tom) Doyscher of Waconia, Steve (and Brenda) Mikel of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jim (and Julie) Mikel of Sioux Falls, SD, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, daughters Deborah and Mary Jo, son-in-law Pete Larson and seven siblings.
