A private family service will be held for Merlyn Hall, 94, of Tracy.
Merlyn Arden Hall was born on December 10, 1928, to Carl Adolph and Margaret (Broughton) Hall, on the family farm in Westerheim Township, Lyon County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in rural Cottonwood. He attended country school through the 8th grade, then graduated from Clarkfield High School with the class of 1947 and began farming with his father. In 1955, he was drafted into the Army and served eight months in Germany doing artillery maintenance. He received an honorable hardship discharge to help his father. Merlyn and Sheryl Ockwig were married March 16, 1963. To this union four sons, Ty, Brent, Adam, and Todd, were born. The family lived on the farm in Minneota for several years, before renting the farm out and moving to the Renville, Belview, Delhi area, where Merlyn started driving truck for both Jim and Rich Dwire. Later he worked for Bornhoft Concrete for several years, moving to Tracy after retiring.
Merlyn died on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl, sons Ty (and Wanda) Hall, Brent (and Shirley) Hall, Adam (and Sharie) Hall, Todd (and Shana) Hall, 13 grandchildren, and several great-grands! He is also survived by his sister Corrine Soyring and brother-in-law Dale Schroeder. Merlyn is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ardis Sternke, Carol Barron, Darlene Schroeder, and Dianne Sternke, brother Ordell Hall, and infant brother Robert Hall.
