Merlyn Howard Wallen

Merlyn Wallen, 90, of Marshall, MN passed away peacefully, with all his family at his side, on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Merlyn was born on November 8, 1933, son of Orville G. and Mabel Wallen (Rysdahl).  He attended and graduated Clarkfield High School and started his farming career.  He married Delores Schlenner in 1953 and they made their home on the family farm at rural Clarkfield.  They share over 70 years of marriage.  To this union five children were born:  Deborah, Douglas, Cheryl, Glenn,, and Sandra.

Merlyn is survived by his wife, Delores; children Deborah (Layne) Turner, Douglas (Linda), and Sandra (Scott) Johnson; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Alvin Schlenner and his wife Elaine.

Merlyn was preceded in death by his daughter Cheryl, son Glenn, parents Orville and Mabel Wallen, parents-in-law, brother Orville Jr., and five brothers and sisters-in-law.

Memorials are preferred to Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall.
