Michael (Mike) Dale Hoffmeister was born September 19, 1953, to Evangeline and Dale Hoffmeister, at Heron Lake Hospital in Heron Lake, MN. He died October 14, 2019, at South View Acres Health Care Center Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his father Dale Hoffmeister, his grandparents: Jacob (Pat) and Dora Hornickel, Ray and Moreal Hoffmeister, Peter and Rose Simonsen and his stepfather, Clarence Simonsen. He is survived by his mother, Evangeline Simonsen of Marshall, his sister, Carol (Bill) Turner of Sedalia MO, his nephews, Andrew (Bethany, Charlie and Graham) of West Plains, MO and Nick Turner of Wheat Ridge, CO.
Mike attended school in Heron Lake, Rochester and Marshall MN, graduating from Marshall Senior High in 1971. He attended Willmar Vocational School from 1971-1973 for Auto Mechanics. In February of 1973, Mike enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Midway for four years, attaining the rank of E4. After discharge, he attended Willmar for Machinist and worked in Machine Shops in Montevideo, Continental Machines/Hydraulics in Savage and K&G Manufacturing in Faribault.
Mike was happiest attending car shows, NHRA Races at Brainerd, or cruising in his 1968 Camaro. He enjoyed his many friends in the MSMA Car Club, and those from his 31 years in AA.
Mike thanks the doctors and staff at the Minneapolis and Nashville VA Hospitals, and the staff at the South View Acres Health Care Center Hospice in West St. Paul for the great care they provided.
