Mildred (Luo) Luella Christine Velta

Lou Velta age 99 of Tracy, MN died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, MN. Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Tracy Lutheran Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at a later date in Northfield, MN. The Almlie Funeral Home of Tracy is handling the arrangements. Mildred “Lou” Luella Christine Velta was born October 11, 1910 to John and Emma (Simonson) Rehmann in Northfield, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Northfield Lutheran Church. Lou attended Northfield Public Schools and graduated from Northfield High School before attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. She moved to Tracy, MN in 1948, where she taught English and was the librarian at Tracy High School until 1958. On November 15, 1957 Lou married Robert H. Velta. She enjoyed the many trips she took with her husband to Europe and annual vacations in Hot Springs, AR. Lou loved playing bridge and belonged to several Bridge groups over the years. She was a member of Tracy Lutheran Church and the Tracy American Legion Auxiliary. She and her husband, Bob, Lived their entire married life on North Street in Tracy. In 2008 Lou made a monetary donation to the City of Tracy to preserve the former St. Mark’s Church property, which stood adjacent to North Street, as a park in memory of her beloved husband. In October of 2006 Lou became a resident of the Valley View Manor in Lamberton, MN and moved in May of 2009 to the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, MN, where she died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the age of 99. She is survived by nephews, Gordon Rahman of Red Wing, MN, Gerald Rahmann of Northfield, MN, Calvin (Louise) Rahmann of Palm Springs, CA, Donald (Ellie) Rahman of Golden Valley, MN, Alvin Rahman of Northfield, MN, Marvin (Christine) Rahman of Virginia Beach, VA, Curtis (Avice) Reed of Northfield, MN; nieces, Audrey (Allen) Pleschourt of Northfield, MN, JoAnne (Steve) Lawrence of Seattle, WA, Kay Rahman of Waseca, MN, Mona (Robert) Johannson of Goodyear, AZ, and Nancy (Michael) Lucast of Elko, MN. Her parents, husband, Bob, two sisters, Evelyn Voss and Selma Reed, and two brothers, Franklin Rehmann and Jerome Rehmann preceded her in death.
