Minnie Ranum age 89 of Slayton, MN died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Maplelawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN. Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Chandler Funeral Chapel in Chandler, MN. Visitation will be from 12:00 (Noon) until 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the service at the Chandler Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at the Slayton Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Country Host in Slayton. The Chandler Funeral Association is handling the arrangements.
Minnie Ranum was born June 2, 1918 to Ernest and Maggie (Frey) Johnson at Forreston, IL. As a young girl her family moved to Brewster, MN in 1920 and later to a farm near Reading, MN, where she attended country school.
On March 26, 1942 Minnie married Julius Ranum at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chandler, MN. They made their home on a farm near Chandler and then Butterfield, MN, before retiring in 1978 to Slayton, MN.
Minnie was a homemaker and raised her three children. Both Julius and Minnie were active in the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and baking, but her greatest love was spending time with her children, their families and many friends.
In March of 1998 Minnie became a resident of the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN where she died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the age of 89.
Minnie is survived by her one daughter, Carol Johnson of Boulder, CO; two sons, Arnold (Carol) Ranum of Mankato, MN and Gary (Nancy) Ranum of Spirit Lake, IA; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Julius, her parents, four sisters, two brothers and one grandson preceded her in death.
