Nancy Lee Hinz

Nancy Lee Hinz, 63, of Tracy passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin with visitation two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Nancy Lee Hinz was born August 24, 1951 in Tracy, MN to LaVern and Verona (Smerling) Holm in Tracy, Minnesota. Nancy was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Lake Sarah Township and confirmed at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin. Nancy attended Garvin grade school and graduated from Tracy High School in 1969. Nancy graduated from the New Ulm School of Practical Nursing in 1970 and started work at the Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall. Nancy was a member of the Garvin Hi-Fliers 4H Club and took part in many activities, including Miss 4H Box Car Day Queen Candidate in 1968, share the fun contest, Vocal Duets with her sister Barb (who has the same birthday exactly one year apart), and at church Memorial Day programs at Custer Cemetery. Nancy enjoyed playing the piano and bassoon, and singing. On April 17, 1971, Nancy was married to Dennis Hinz at the Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin and they made their home in Amiret. To this union they had one daughter, Kelli Lee. Nancy was diagnosed with Cerebral Multiple Sclerosis in 1988 at the age of 29. She moved to Twin Circle Apartments in Tracy with home health care. She attended Camp Courage near Maple Lake a few summers. In 1997, Nancy went to the DAC in Tracy and in 2010, she moved to Prairie View Health Care in Tracy where she made many friends and received excellent care. She always had a “Hi” and a smile for everyone. Nancy passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy at the age of 63 of Breast Cancer. Nancy is survived by her mother Verona Holm of Tracy; daughter Kelli (Craig) Lange of Willmar and their children Larady and Cody; siblings Barb (Terry) Johnson of Long Lake and children Holly (Jeff) Caple of Delano and their children Grace and Ian, Steve (Nancy) Holm of Marshall and children Andria (Brent) Hulke of Moorehead and their children Hannah and Reid; cousins, and many friends. Nancy was welcomed into Heaven by her father, LaVern Holm. Blessed be her memory.
