Naomi Berg age 88 of Lamberton, MN, formerly of Westbrook, MN, died Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Valley View Manor in Lamberton. Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Old Westbrook Lutheran Church, rural Westbrook. Visitation will be from 10:00 Am Tuesday morning till time of service at the church. Interment will be in the Old Westbrook Cemetery, followed by a luncheon in the church social hall. The Almlie Funeral Home of Westbrook is handling the arrangements.
Naomi Grace berg was born October 28, 1925 to Alfred and Hilda (Knutson) Erickson on a farm in Ann Township, Cottonwood County, north of Westbrook, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Old Westbrook Lutheran Church and attended country school near her home.
On November 3, 1942 Naomi married Marvin Berg in Westbrook, MN. They made their home on a farm in Westbrook Township, located in northern Cottonwood County. She will always be remembered by her family as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She raised her children and took care of the household, never working outside her home.
Naomi was a life-long member of the Old Westbrook Lutheran Church and was active in the many church womenâsâ groups, taught Sunday School, and was a Luther League advisor. She enjoyed collecting antique tea sets, sewing and going to auctions, mostly to search for fabric bargains for the church sewing club. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and their families.
In 2004 Naomi and Marvin moved into the Peterson Estates in Westbrook and then in 2005 they became residents of the Valley view Manor in Lamberton, MN, where Naomi died, Friday, February 7, 2014 at the age of 88.
Naomi is survived by her one daughter, Bonnie (Doug) Kirchner of Walnut Grove, MN; two sons, Bruce (Debra) Berg of Storden, MN and Brian (Jeanne) Berg of Westbrook, MN; six grandchildren, Bradley (Danielle) Berg, Bridget Huber, Brady Berg, Stuart (Sarah) Kirchner, Ryan (fiancé, Beka Calonder) Kirchner, and Anne (fiancé, Jason Bradley) Berg; seven Great Grandchildren, Tyson, Nicholas and Jordyn Berg, Gina and Andrew Huber and Haylee and Elsie Kirchner; one brother, James Erickson of Westbrook, MN; sister-in-law, Delores Amundson of Aurora, CO; nieces, nephews and friends.
Her husband, Marvin, daughter, Barbara Berg, grandson, Joshua Berg, her parents, two brothers, Truman (Ora) and Harvey (Inga) Erickson, one sister, Alta (Carl) Arnold, sister-in-law, LaVonne Erickson, and brother-in-law, Harry Amundson Jr. preceded her in death.
