Nora âNonieâ Schommer was born on July 25, 1932 in rural Milroy, Minnesota. She was the daughter of John and Mary Pavek Dolan. Nonie attended school in Milroy where she graduated from Milroy High School. She received her teacherâs certificate from Mankato Teachers College and later her degree from SMSU.
She married Hal Schommer on June 29, 1957 at St Michaelâs Church in Milroy. The couple lived in Marshall where they raised their family and Nonie taught at Holy Redeemer Catholic School for 27 years. She died with her family at her side on November 4, 2010 at Avera Medical Center in Marshall.
Nonie was a member of the secular Franciscan Order, the Holy Redeemer CCW and Bingo Committee. She enjoyed reading, bridge, golf (had a hole-in-one during the annual Dolan Golf Tourney), her Minnesota Twins, family lake vacations and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Deb Schommer of Marshall, Denny (Sue) Schommer of New Ulm, Pat (Joyce) Schommer of Hutchinson, Mary Jo Sullivan of Frisco, TX and Beth (Mike) Soupir of Marshall, grandchildren:· Laura, Austin, Eric, Megan, Michael, Nicole, Kendra, Morgan, Jennifer, Mark, Emily, and Matt, sisters: Agnes Marquardt of Chanhassen, MN, Margaret LeTourneau of St Paul, Dorothy Rohlik of Lucan and brothers: Mark âSpikeâ Dolan of Milroy and Donald Dolan of Prescott, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hal in 1986, 5 brothers and 2 sisters and son-in-law Scott Sullivan.
