Norma Louise (Dardis) Traen was born on July 22, 1935, in Milroy to Charles and Gertrude (Molitor) Dardis. She attended school and graduated from Tracy High School in 1953. On June 18, 1960, Norma was united in marriage to Raymond Joseph Traen at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie. The couple made their home and raised their family in Taunton. Norma worked for many years as a Licensed Abstractor at Lyon County Abstract and Title in Marshall. She was very active at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Taunton and served in many capacities including as Secretary for the CCW, Eucharistic Minister, Usher and on Parish Council. Norma lead the rosary at the Minneota Manor and volunteered for other organizations including Birthright, One to One, 4-H and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed attending Senior College in Marshall. She also enjoyed gardening, Extension, reading, cooking, spending time with friends and family and travelling throughout the United States and Ireland.
Norma died on Friday, February 29, 2008, near her home in Taunton. She is survived by children Sharon Traen (David Smith) of Maplewood, Betty (Tom) Swords of St. Paul, Carol (Greg) Kimlinger of White Bear Lake, Ken Traen of St. Paul and Michelle Traen of St. Paul, grandchildren Patrick, Daniel and Lauren Swords of St. Paul, Michael and Maria Kimlinger of White Bear Lake, siblings Alita Lenertz of Tracy, Nora (Bob) McCoy of Tracy, Linus (Theresa) Dardis of Fulda, Norbert (Delores) Dardis of St. Joseph, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, brother Donald and infant brother, Charles.
Norma will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be sadly missed.
