Norman Carrow

d. December 25, 2012

Norman “Bozo” Thomas Carrow passed away peacefully at the age of 85 December 25, 2012, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall, Minnesota. He spent the last days of his life surrounded by family and loved ones. Earning his nickname at a young age, Bozo is mostly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor; carrying his quick wit in his shirt pocket; he used every opportunity to share a funny story. Bozo was born on a farm by Green Valley, Minnesota, July 5, 1927. After graduating from high school, he served in the 109 - 56th Battalion for the United States Navy, stationed in Guam during World War II. After an honorable discharge, he returned to the Marshall area where he met and married Geraldine Boerboom in 1950 at St. Eloi in Ghent, Minnesota. Bozo and Gerri farmed north of Marshall where they raised their family. He enjoyed farming, a hard day’s work, and sharing the fruits of his labor with his family and many friends over a Grain Belt. Bozo spent many hours creating rich friendships by fishing, hunting, and playing Rolle Bolle. Friends in Arizona waited for Bozo and Gerri to join them so the laughter and good fellowship could begin; knowing when Bozo arrived it was going to be a great time. He was well known by many through his wonderful stories and touched the lives of everyone he met. Bozo was a farmer. His greatest joy was planting seeds and watching them grow. He was preceded in death by his parents Hector and Loretta Carrow, son-in-law John J. Kruse, and grandson Evan Daniel Carrow. Bozo is survived by his wife Geraldine; sister Vernette Senden; brother Harold Carrow; children Douglas and Doreen (Brass), Dan and Shannon (Edwards), Duane and Debra (Kumm), Richard Jolene (Deutz), Norma Jean, Joanne and Bob (Thurston), David and Lorra (Lyskowski), Nancy and Kyle (Larson). Bozo was also an extremely proud grandfather of twenty grandchildren: Emily Carrow, Kaitlyn Carrow, Trenton Carrow, Josh Wittrock, Evan Carrow, Nicholas (Kris) Carrow, Matthew (Anna) Carrow, Marri Carrow, Maria Carrow, Alissa (Neil) Brummond, Andrea Carrow, Jacob (Brooke) Carrow, Chris (Emily) Persson, Carl (Dana) Persson, Megan Persson, Leila Persson, Katrina Carrow, Triston Carrow, Taka Larson and Lydia Larson; and four great grandchildren Logan Carrow, Madelyn Carrow, Jackson Carrow and Noah Persson. The Carrow family requests that memorials be made to the Evan Carrow Fund, which is administered through Avera Hospital, 300 S. Bruce St., Marshall, MN 56258.
