Orville John (O.J.) Wigness was born September 19, 1921 in Minneota, MN to John and Emma (Hanson) Wigness. Orville grew up and went to school in Minneota. During the World War II years, Orville worked in the San Diego air and ship yards. He married Joyce Hanson on September 23, 1951 in Minneota, MN. They moved to their farm in Minneota and lived there until 1965 when they moved to their current home in town. Orville continued to farm with his brother, Donnie, until his retirement in 1983. He was an active member of Hope Lutheran church serving on committees. He also served as President of the Minneota Elevator board. Orville enjoyed playing cards, dancing, visiting and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Wigness of Minneota; and his children Laurie (Bernie) Shell of Solon, OH; Cindy (Greg) Hawkins of Minnetonka, MN; Trudy (David) Vien of River Falls, WI. He has five grandchildren Sheridan (Shell) Yarberry, Shana (Hawkins) Kolodziej, Mitch Hawkins, Gunnar Vien and Courtney Vien, along with 1 great grandchild, Keagan Kolodziej; 2 brothers Arby and Mark (and Marion) Wigness, and his sister Gloria Kjorness. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Warren and Donnie Wigness and sister Vivian Krolling.
