Pamela Jean (Bot) Haukom was born on May 9, 1961, in Marshall, to Vincent and Judy (Hennen) Bot. She grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School in 1979. After graduation, she spent a year in Germany as an exchange student. Pam attended the College of St. Benedict for a year, then returned to Marshall and completed her education at Southwest Minnesota State University. On November 24, 1984, she was united in marriage to Jeffrey Haukom at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. The couple made their home in Marshall. Pam worked at Norwest Bank for a time. She had a lifelong love of music and playing the piano and organ were her passion. She taught piano for many years and was the liturgist for Holy Redeemer Catholic Church from 2007 to present. She also enjoyed baking and shopping. Family was most important to Pam. She looked forward to family gatherings, enjoyed following all of her childrenâs activities and was always their number one fan.
Pam fought a courageous long-term battle with lupus and more recently with cancer. She was able to attend her oldest sonâs wedding in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Due to complications from her illnesses, she later died at the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family, on Monday, October 12. Through all of her adversities, Pam remained her extremely positive self and managed to inspire and brighten the lives of those around her through her many gifts and talents.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff, of Marshall, children Nick (and Jamy) Haukom of San Francisco, Kirsten Haukom of Marshall, Nathan Haukom of Marshall, Craig Haukom of Alexandria and Brent Haukom of Marshall, parents Vincent and Judy Bot of Minneota, siblings Bruce (and Juanita) Bot of Minneota, Jennifer (and Jim) Bestgen of Rochester, Marc (and Rhonda) Bot of Alexandria, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
