Paul Charles Vercruysse was born on September 3, 1926, in Rural Marshall, to Gentiel and Marguerite (Doise) Vercruysse. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Marshall. On April 18, 1950, he was united in marriage to Grace St. Aubin at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Paul worked as a mechanic at the Ivanhoe John Deere Dealership, Ivanhoe Implement, for many years. He also farmed for many years. Following retirement, he and Grace moved to St. Leo and later to the Minneota Manor. He was a skilled mechanic and enjoyed tinkering with things and fixing many objects. He also enjoyed shaking dice and playing cards. He had a great sense of humor. He was a bit of a prankster and enjoyed making people laugh. Paul also had a love of watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and of John Deere tractors.
Paul died on Monday, May 16, 2016, at the Sanford Canby Hospital in Canby. He is survived by his wife, Grace, of Minneota, children Diane (and Ron) Tholen of Excelsior, Paula (and David) Belaen of Minneota, Pauline (and Donnie) Hasert of Minneota, Dan (and Diane) Vercruysse of Tyler, Dennis (and Beth) Vercruysse of Minneota, Donna (and Tom) Grengs of St. Leo, 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, siblings Irene (and Peter) Labat of Marshall, Jeanette (and Jerry) Halbur of Slayton, Joe (and Marie) Vercruysse of Balaton, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George Vercruysse and sister Mary Deiken, son-in-law Curtis Dobrenski and grandson Stephen Vercruysse.
