Rachel Florence (Wixon) Kaczrowski was born on June 3, 1918, to Miles and Florence (Moore) Wixon at their farm home south of Marshall in Sodus Township. The youngest of 18 children, she attended seven years of country school and two years in Tracy. On April 11, 1939, Rachel was united in marriage to Anton Kaczrowski at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple was married for 59 years. They raised their three children in Marshall; James, Thomas and Mary Kathryn . Rachel worked as a clerk for many years at Terrace Park Dairy and the Marshall Dairy Store before that. She enjoyed reading, gardening, crocheting, cooking and baking for her family.
Rachel died on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall. She is survived by her children James (and Donna) of Mora, Thomas of Marshall, and Mary Kathryn (and Ronald) Brunelle of Pawcatuck, CT, five grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way, one great-great granddaughter, special niece Renee Larson of Aitkin, MN, and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tony, brothers Reinard, Forrest, Ward, Merrill, Andy, Keith and William, sisters Nita, Rita, Alta, Euphemia, Emma, Edna, Electa, Violet, Genevieve and Helen.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Sandy Buesing, Colleen Forbes, Jane Como and the Prairie Home Hospice personnel for care given to their mother.
