Randall Reuben Obe was born on May 24, 1954, in Marshall, to Reuben and Anna âPeggyâ (Strand) Obe. He grew up in Minneota and graduated from Minneota High School in 1973. On April 15, 1978, he was united in marriage to Sheree Boe. Randy worked doing road construction for McLaughlin & Schultz and then Midwest Asphalt. He later took a job as the head Greens keeper at the Minneota Golf Course to be closer to home while his kids were busy with various activities. After the kids grew up, he took a job as a paver operator for Bituminous Roadways. Randy loved spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed playing golf and Texas holdem poker. Often he could be heard playing the spoons to a Johnny Cash song. On occasion, he could also be found at a local casino.
Randy died on Sunday, July 21, 2013, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Sheree, of Minneota, children Travis of St. Louis Park, Taylor of Sioux Falls and Tenille of Ghent, siblings Diane Ness of Redwood Falls, Lonna (and Rod) Stensrud of Minneota, Jim Obe of Minneota, Susan (and Ben Jr.) Pohlen of Minneota, Butch Obe of Henning, Brian (and Marge) Obe of Minneota, Nadine (and Dennis) Kor of Minneota, LouAnn (and Dan) Endries of the Netherlands, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Vince Ness and Paul Larson and sister-in-law JoAnn Obe.
