Ray was born January 9, 1920, in Marion, North Dakota, to Ernest and Louise (Beernaert) Loyson. At the age of four, he moved with his family to the Ghent area. On June 17, 1941, he married Juliet Hennen at St. Eloi Catholic Church. They raised their three children on the family farm in Westerheim Township. Juliet died on December 18, 1973. On August 29, 1975, he married Mary Nuytten. They made their home in Marshall. Mary died on February 14, 2009.
Ray served on the Minneota Public School Board of Education and served as Director and President of the Board of the Countryside Golf Club.
Ray died Wednesday, May 27, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota.
He is survived by two sons, Roger of Scottsdale, AZ; Gordon (Pat Lanoue) of Minneota; daughter Rosemarie (Jim) VanHecke of Taunton; two grandchildren, Craig (Shelly) Loyson of Missoula, MT and Shawnna Rae (Rob) Vidoloff of Budoia, Italy and three great grandchildren; Samuel Loyson, Alec Erickson, and Clarisse Vidoloff. He is also survived by sisters; Emma Hennen and Torie Hennen of Marshall; stepchildren; Sharon Schmidt (Ken), Gary (Sandy) Nuytten, Judy (Dean) VanOverbeke and Jeff (Kris) Nuytten; eight step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouses Juliet and Mary, daughter in law Audrey and brothers, Hank and Art.
