Raymond Bernard Myrvik was born on November 7, 1912, in Nordland Township, to Odin and Marie (Skaar) Myrvik. He grew up, attended country school, and graduated from Minneota High School. Ray attended one year of teacherâs training at Normal School. He taught for a few years. On June 19, 1937, he was united in marriage to Alice Teigland at Hemnes Lutheran Church. After the marriage, the couple began farming west of Minneota. They farmed until retiring and moving to Minneota in the mid-1970s. Ray was very active. He was a member of the Minneota City Band, the Farm Bureau, was a 4-H leader, belonged to the Southwest Minnesota Dairy Association and the Nordland Telephone Association, drove for Western Community Action and delivered Meals on Wheels. He and Alice were also foster parents to many children. Ray was also very active at Hemnes Lutheran Church. He served in various offices, was the choir director and a Sunday School Teacher.
Raymond died on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at the Minneota Manor in Minneota. He is survived by his children Ronald Myrvik of Duluth, Deloris (and Rev. Norman) Berg of Ham Lake, MN, Paul (and Mary Ellen) Myrvik of Minneota, Barbara (and Pierre) Hansen of St. Cloud, 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren and one expected, sister Marion Buska of St. Louis Park, MN, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one son in infancy, his wife, Alice, brothers Otto and Arnold and sisters Myrtle Smith and Esther Johnson.
