Ann Dwelle Ward died June 26th, 2014, at her home in Marshall, MN, of leukemia, leaving this world as gently as she lived in it. Ann was born February 1st, 1950 to Clark and Mary (Kammann) Dwelle of Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from the âoldâ South High School, then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Cloud State University in 1972 and a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Theological Seminary (St. Paul, MN) in 1979. On May 28, 1977, she married John Ward in the seminary chapel.
She was ordained a pastor of the American Lutheran Church (a predecessor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) in 1982, and served congregations in Ohio, Texas, and Minnesota, including Hope Lutheran in Minneota, MN and several interim positions in southwest Minnesota. She functioned in many roles within the larger ELCA church body, working with synod councils and committees in Texas and Minnesota, acting as mentor for TEEM ministry candidates, and serving on boards for the SMSU Campus Religious Center, and Lutheran Campus Ministries at local and state levels.
Ann was an avid reader. She enjoyed many types of music, and was an enthusiastic violinist for the Southwest Minnesota Orchestra. She loved learning, sharing, and telling a good story. Her greatest joys were service to others and keeping in touch with her wide variety of friends and family across the country.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, John Ward of Marshall, MN; her brother John Dwelle of Minneapolis, MN; and an extended family of relations from Washington to New York to Florida.
