Richard August Buysse was born on June 18, 1950 to Harry and Mary (Labat) Buysse in Marshall, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota, attended Central Catholic High School in Marshall thru his junior year, and graduated from Minneota Public High School in 1968.
On August 3, 1968, Richard was united in marriage to Donna Sanders at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. They made their home on a farm near Minneota where Richard farmed his entire life. God was very important in Richard’s life, as well as his family and farm. Richard had a passion for all animals, especially his cows and his beloved German Shepherd Charlie. He also enjoyed camping, campfires, grilling, and making Sunday breakfast. He loved to spend time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.
On Sunday, October 23, 2016, Richard passed away surrounded by his family at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 66.
He is survived by his wife Donna of Minneota; children Laura (Dave) Fadness of Minneota, Curtis (Caren) Buysse of Minneota, Katera (Bob) Johnson of Madison, SD, Sharon (Michael) James of Brookings, SD and Renee Fink of Morris; grandchildren Leah, Andrew, Faith, Shay, Joseph, Justin, Morgan, Sydney, Bryn, Megan, Andrea, Makayla and Gavin; brother Robert (Diane) Buysse; and sisters Patricia (Roger) VanNevel and Barbara (Jim) Enevoldsen.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mary Buysse.
